About
The Comms Support Group is founded by Kelly Basgen,
a senior communications leader with a passion for helping Comms Teams accelerate output and elevate impact.
For more than two decades, I was fortunate to lead Comms Teams at some of the top brands in my hometown of Minneapolis: Target … Polaris … Cargill. I helped companies navigate product recalls, corporate reorganizations and geo-political conflicts. I wrote for dozens of executives and 7 CEOs. I managed 30+-person high-performing global teams. I was doing meaningful work. I had deep relationships. And it was often fun.
But it was also often a grind. Behind the high-profile projects, I saw the same pattern on every team: talented communicators buried under constant execution, burning out as they scrambled to keep up. Big strategic priorities got sidelined. Creativity stalled. And the tools meant to help us just added more noise.
As I progressed, I was constantly asking how we could make things more simple, more intuitive, more streamlined. One time I even brought my new boss what she dubbed, “Kelly’s binder of ideas” – years’ worth of notes I had on how we could work smarter as a team.
So after 25 years of being the “comms support” for executives, projects, and companies, I wanted to be the “support” for Comms Teams themselves. To help them streamline the urgent so they can get to the important. To help them bypass by sifting through the noise of new trends and endless LinkedIn articles to find only the most relevant solutions. To help them simplify execution to create more capacity for strategy.

That’s why I built the Comms Support Group: to give comms teams the clarity, confidence, and capacity to lead with impact – without getting buried in the busywork. Because when comms teams have the right support, they don’t just keep up – they lead.

I hope you'll join us.
